Title: Swish Swosh
Medium: Pewter on board - 87 x 28 x 18cms
I have vivid memories of a period of three years when I lived and sailed on the ocean. Now some thirty years ago, I interpret those recurring impressions into pewter - using sculpture, relief and mark-making. I recall the often uncomfortable experiences of the seas movement as in "Swish-swosh" (you might imagine what came next) and exciting , often beautiful, visual impressions of light and watery mist, as in "Sea Spray". I use patination methods to mark the metal and applied metal powders to lighten and enhance.
